While many kids are polishing their shoes and sharpening their pencils as they head back to school, so many others are facing yet another round of cancer treatment or another day in hospital.
The Kids with Cancer Foundation is a charitable organisation that supports sick children and their vulnerable families with financial assistance and support – and is Alliance SI’s charity partner of choice.
Instead of getting the “back to work blues”, we decided to start the year right by heading out to Kids for Cancer Foundation’s headquarters in Baulkham Hills to spend the morning making Care Packs. Filled with snacks, activities and positive messages, the Care Packs are delivered to hospitals across Australia. And what a rewarding experience for the Sydney based Alliance SI team, who worked together to assemble packs and create personalised messages.
“It’s one thing to donate Care Packs 4 Kids, but it’s another experience altogether to take part in putting the packs together. Learning more about what these kids and their families must go through made it all the more valuable, and I just hope I can help to bring a smile to someone in need” said Paddy Kelly (Project Manager), one of the many staff members who volunteered their time.
“Our boxes are filled with healthy snacks, colouring activities, poppers and some family activities. Each pack has been carefully put together to help take little minds off exhausting rounds of treatment”
